Tropical Vacation - Day 1

We started Day 1 of our vacation to Tortola, Anagada and Virgin Gorda at approx. 5am this morning and headed down to the Saba Airport by 6:30am. Wim and Johanna wisely decided that the trip would not be complete without a kicking off our departure with a champagne toast (or 17) before leaving our little rock at "O Dark Hour".

Once we arrived in St. Maarten we had a lengthy lay over which allowed us pleny of time to make our accuaintences with the airport bartender and then we headed off to the LIAT airline for our trip to Tortola. LIAT, in island lingo, stands for Leave Island Any Time.

Once we arrived on the tamack my only thought was What In The Hell Are They Pumping Out Of That Plane!! I never found out, thank goodness.

Luckily for us the departure left exactly on time and we arrived safely in Tortola at aobut 12:45pm.

Paul's seat mate for the trip over was Trevon, his God Son who was sporting his new island shades!

After 0ur arrival, we had a short walk down to the harbor where our friends from Anagada picked us up on their boat for the short (nearly 2 hour) trip back to Anagada. Luckily they had ice and I had Absolut which made the trip tremedously enjoyable!

It was fun to see all the private islands surrounding the BVI'S which are owned by people like Sir Richard Branson and the Van Andle Family. We never got close enough to spy any celebraties though. Oh well, it's fun to dream sometimes, isn't it?

Here we are arriving on Anagada at Neptune's Treasures which will be my home for the next 7 days not withstanding a handful of day trips here and there. Not to shabby, huh?

Once we arrived and got our crap secured into our beach front bungalow, Paul and I went immediately down to the water's edge and took a nice long dip in the warm Caribbean Sea.

Happy Labor Day (for you Americans) from Saba, via Anagada.............
