Happy Saturday

OK, I know I'm being somewhat redundant with all of these Sunrise and Sunset pictures from the balcony here at Shearwater Resort but it never ceases to amaze me that we have a direct oceanfront view of both!! This morning's sunrise was a little spooky with low lying clouds and some leftover ash in the air from the volcano but "cool nonetheless".

Well enough of the lollygagging around and off to work. Today's projects are to clean up the Dining Room and start organizing the Kitchen followed by the start of the restoration project of this old table. The table was an original from the old Captain's Quarters hotel and restaurant that was destroyed by a hurricane about 15 years ago and had made its way to a private home.

Friends of ours who recently bought the place gave us the table to use in the new Dining Room here at the hotel. Rumor has it that it was made out of wood from a wrecked ship from many years ago. Not sure if thats true but as they say "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story"

The legs are braces are cool looking carved pieces out of one solid piece of wood. We're going to sand it down, stain it a dark Mahogany tone and varnish it.

We plan on using it in the middle of the Dining Room and use it for buffet set ups, a refectory table and for large groups. It measure almost 10 feet long and can easily seat 10-12 people.
Next on the task list for today is to prep this long wall that borders the Kitchen. I wasn't happy about the drywall repairs and it shows the imperfections so I am going to faux finish the whole wall in 3 different tones of tans and browns and then glaze it with a bronze finish.
Well, off to work!! Happy Saturday from Saba.
